Okay, my enthusiasm for the rain has been dampened somewhat. Drenched, maybe. We’re halfway through a soggy July and the ten-day forecast is even gloomier than Marti Pellow’s short-lived team with So Solid Crew, Wet Wet Wet Wet Wet Wet Wet Wet Wet Wet Wet Wet Wet Wet Wet Wet Wet Wet Wet Wet Wet Wet Wet Wet Wet Wet Wet Wet Wet Wet Wet Wet Wet Wet Wet Wet Wet Wet Wet Wet Wet Wet Wet Wet Wet Wet Wet Wet Wet Wet Wet Wet Wet Wet Wet Wet Wet Wet Wet Wet Wet Wet Wet Wet Wet Wet Wet Wet Wet Wet Wet Wet Wet Wet Wet Wet Wet Wet Wet Wet Wet Wet Wet Wet Wet Wet Wet Wet Still, a good day for playing video games. I’m finishing Bookwalker, an adventure/RPG game about a writer going into books and ah it’s a good concept but it’s not a good game. More on that next week, probably.

I will try to spend some time with Dave The Diver between the usual wave of badminton. I found it to be a real chill out moment perfect for the Steam Deck. What a nice surprise.

I’ve played a lot of Hades on the Steam Deck lately, so probably more! I hadn’t played there before, but I just finished my first run, so I feel like I’ve passed the good and the really good. You know what I mean. Other than that, my friends and I have been doing a lot of Discord Poker Night lately. To my surprise, I’m fine at poker! I think a lot of that skill comes from not really knowing the rules or what makes a good hand, and instead getting away from the vibes.

I’d say I was going to play Team Fortress 2 to find out about its first major update in several years, but let’s be honest, I was going to play Team Fortress 2 regardless. The waterproofing is good though.

I’m playing a slew of secret reviews this weekend, but in the meantime, I’m also hoping to add even more Final Fantasy XVI. I made my way through opening hours on a few days off last week, and yes, I’m completely engrossed in battering bats and goblins with flaming phoenix wings and bringing down my dog friend Torgal on unsuspecting mercenaries. He’s a good boy, Torgal, even if he’s just a hairier Atreus on all fours. All I need now is for Clive to say “Good BOY” in the same gritty undertones as Kratos and the illusion will be complete.

After a few weeks of distractions, I finally have time to immerse myself in The Legend Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom again and I’m so happy to be building some stupid contraption in Hyrule again. What a phenomenal thing.
Ollie
is far!

After the announcement last month that the Ace Attorney: Apollo Justice series will be coming to PC next year, I decided to replay the first game on my DS with the same cartridge I had when it first came out in 2007 – which I’m surprised didn’t explode or leak chemicals or anything like that. And let me tell you, I had an absolute blast. I’ve always thought Ace Attorney: Apollo Justice was great, but now I firmly believe it’s hands down one of the best in the entire AA series. For starters, the first case is amazing (shattering the reputation that first cases in AA games are always the worst) but it also has some of the best characters in the entire series (Trucy, Klavier, adult Ema!), and the investigation sections don’t feel busy because of their own twists. I know our best friend Edgeworth isn’t in it, but in terms of place in the series, I’d put him second with Trials and Tribulations in first place. So here is. I’ll be playing more of that this weekend.

Finally, my partner and I fully clicked into the joys of Sherlock Holmes Chapter One, and spent most of our playtime this week running around the open world completing side quests and carefully ignoring the main story until the game refused to let us progress any further. We have my parents visiting this weekend, so it’s unclear how much time there will be for video games, but you can bet it’ll all be split between the adventures of young Shirley and the no-different Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective theme.
But you, dear reader, what are you playing this weekend?
